Tourists will get to answer this question when they visit the island in northern Cebu for the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo 2016 this month.

Grace Paulino, head of the Provincial Tourism Office, said the provincial government has partnered with Oceanjet for the Suroy-Suroy this month so that parti-cipants would be able to travel straight to the towns of Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela straight from Cebu City conveniently on board a fastcraft.

For the first time, the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo 2016 will also offer the "Sunrise Cruise on Lake Danao, " Paulino said.

The tour package includes a three-day and two-night stay in one of the hotels and resorts in Camotes, which costs at least P7, 000 and up to P11, 000. However, daytime packages are also offered, especially to students who do not want to stay in the island overnight and who want to spend less.

Meanwhile, the provincial government allocated at least P2 million through the Cebu Investment and Promotions Office (CIPO) to strengthen the development of ecotourism in the province.

In a four-day ecotourism workshop, representatives of different local government units learned were taught how to enhance the livelihood programs in their respective municipalities.

Boboi Costas, the province's consultant for Ecotourism, said training was conducted for representatives of eight municipalities in the south, including Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, and Alcantara.

"This is for the eight local government units… it covers the different tourism stakeholders of LGU's, so you're talking about people's organization, planners, and sectoral representatives, " Costas said.

The budget also covers infrastructure that can support the livelihood programs.

"One of every 11 jobs come from the tourism industry… when you do Ecotourism, you're actually doing responsible tourism. Because when you do ecotourism, you only not think of yourself going there but you also think of how your visit can change the lives of the community hosting you, " Costas said.
